Your Audience Is Hanging Out Elsewhere… Find Them

I heard about German artist who traveled all the way from Germany to Africa, in the middle of the Namibian desert, to play Toto’s song “Africa” on a perpetual loop.

He’s used solar batteries to power the mp3 player and its 6 speakers.

I bless the rains down in Africa…”

But just as the old saying goes if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

If Toto’s Africa is playing in the middle of a sandy desert and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Making noise just for the sake of making noise does NOTHING to advance your career or your bank account.

But if you have an audience, when you have people’s attention, EVERYTHING changes.

Always find your audience.

I don’t believe that this artist put that display on in the African desert just to play a song that nobody will hear, the purpose was to get attention by contacting CNN and other news outlets to let them report about what a crazy thing he was doing.

Who else, after all, is setting up solar-powered speakers blasting Toto’s Africa in the middle of a desert?

Nobody.

So, he got international attention for that.

Lack of attention = Limited Success for yourself, your products and ideas.

Let’s talk about a man who has made tremendous success and see if we could learn a thing or two from him today especially as Entrepreneurs.

I read about this man Charles Atlas and these are the three main reasons he was successful.

Charles Atlas Knew How to Sell

There are only a few people who go down as some of history’s greatest salespeople.

Charles Atlas was one of them.

If you know the name, Charles Atlas was iconic because of his famous advertisements that brought in millions of dollars back in the 1930’s and 1940’s selling fitness routines.

He sold the idea of a better body, but what he really sold was CONFIDENCE.

You couldn’t open a comic book back in the day without seeing Charles Atlas somewhere inside its pages.

But why was Charles Atlas so successful, why did his programs sell?

Three Main Reasons…

#1 HE KNEW HIS AUDIENCE’S PAIN POINTS AND FEARS

He shows a typical self-conscious skinny guy not only being bullied, but getting emasculated.

What’s worse in the mind of a guy than getting pushed over at the beach by some big dude?

Having your girl shame you for it.

Charles Atlas knew his audience, so he knew what they feared.

And he poked their emotions.

#2 HE SHOWED HE HAD A SOLUTION TO THEIR PROBLEM

After the weakling gets bullied, the story shows the young man getting Atlas’ strength training program.

Notice that the comic doesn’t spend time on the actual time and WORK it takes to transform your body—it just uses the easy transition “LATER,” which spares the customer from thinking about any pain or work they’ll have to do in order to get results.

This is not necessarily deceptive, because when you’re selling, you need to highlight the BENEFITS people will get from your product, not highlight all the details and process.

Are you too showing people the main benefits your customers will get from your product or service?

I, for example, help people become wealthy—but I don’t dwell on the fact that it usually takes some amount of time. I paint them the picture of the end result they desire to have.

Charles Atlas was a master of this, letting his audience imagine how their life could be different once they had his product:

He came up with a great name for his program: “Dynamic Tension”.

Do Whatever It Takes To Make 2019 Great

Times and time again, life’s experiences about everything that happens to you and around you, clearly shows that people tend to continue to live life as though nothing is happening.

We make resolutions by December 31st and then latest by January 20th these resolutions are broken.

Think about how many people resolve to start up a business, lose weight, quit drinking, or smoking, stop chasing, quit flirting with men, to spend more quality time with family, or to increase income, achieve goals in their lives and careers on this 31st night of December.

 

Alright, let’s not get hasty in concluding that we’re being condemned. We all have these challenges at some points in our lives. After all, we are human.

Some of these things are not seen as indisciplines in some of us.

Whatever your resolution is, understand that without discipline, massive action and a high level of commitment, you will only keep making resolutions year-in-year-out.

 

Therefore, to simplify things for you, all you should do this year is simply to resolve to be disciplined.

Resolve to do the tough things, the things others won’t do. Then you can apply that to everything you set out to accomplish in 2019.

You may be thinking we are far gone into the year and as such, you would wait till another new year to explore what you are about to learn here.

No. That’s very wrong….. Every day counts just the way every breadth from you counts.

 

What you should do today, is to start tomorrow and each other day on a disciplined schedule that allows for no procrastination on your calendar and ensure it is filled with worthwhile actions.

This is critical to keeping you focused. Remember, not all items on your schedule may be business related but they should all result in some sort of production.

This could and should include business, personal, spiritual, and physical development; improving relationships with family, friends and colleagues; volunteering; education; training and the likes.

As soon as you have identified your purpose, and you are certain that the purpose is very vital to your livelihood, the only thing worth driving you at this point is your ability to become highly disciplined and committed.

Pay attention to what must be done to serve that purpose or bigger goal.

It’s your responsibility, duty and obligation to make success happen, so look at what changes are necessary in order to accomplish it.

Maybe it’s adjusting your bedtime so you can be up earlier to workout.

Maybe it’s taking a course or reading for 30 minutes per day.

Make sure the things you do serve the bigger purpose.

When you undermine the concept of being disciplined, you will never achieve the needed purpose or goal.

Be disciplined enough to acknowledge it and make smart decisions from there.

Do you want to go through the emotions of the average and ordinary?

Or do you want to finish this year off with positivity, clear goals, and the motivation required to make big extraordinary things happen for yourself?

 

Look at your space, your desk, your office, and your home. Does it reflect a disciplined person who is on the path to greatness?

Are the people in your life respectful of your focus and drive or a threat to it?

Handle them.

Are you honest and clear on what weakens your level of commitment?

Are you making excuses or allowances for a lack of production?

Think of the adjustments you must make and start your 2019 even though we are in the fifth month of the year with the discipline to go for greatness in every aspect of your life today.

Go down and you’ll find out that most of the articles gave a list between 4 to 12 ways and all of these are related to what I have just listed above.

It’s very unfortunate that most people are held back when ideas is actually what rules the world.

Those ideas or pieces of ideas are stale and should only be for those who do not want to move on with the generational dynamics of life. 

In this article, I want to reveal within the next 5 minutes about the entirety of the book “How To Start A Business Without Money.”

So, stay here with me;

First, there are 7 Dynamics of a successful business. These include;

  1. Leadership – This is all about your vision, mission and core values. It is what drives every man or women to take an action and this must precede every business owner’s decision to start a business. It is simply what separates your success from everyone else.
  2. Management – This guides how your business structure will be positioned for the needed success. It determines how best your customers will be served without sabotaging your efforts. It stays with the organization even when you’re no longer there. This is what makes most companies great and successful. It captures your reporting and supervisory lines.
  3. Brand – This is what you expect anyone who comes in contact with your business to feel. It’s actually seen as the bedrock of most business successes. This must come from the vision, mission and core values that you must have created when you decided on taking this journey of becoming an entrepreneur.
  4. Finance – Your life wire for the business. A poor management of your finances will easily rock your boat. Every business needs a solid visual interpretation of how income and expense for the business flow. Usually, there are free applications online to help you with this. Most importantly, know your money flows.
  5. Marketing – This is all about creating the visuals of your business not only in the eyes of your prospective clients but in the minds and soul of your prospective clients. This today has become simpler with the use of social media and digital platforms. Marketing is what spreads your brand promises to your target audience.
  6. Sales – This is all about the values you provide in exchange for the monies they pay. It talks about the processes involved in closing every deal you go to the market with. Every business needs sales because that’s what keeps you in business. It is the most important thing that every business owner wants to see. But we must understand that Sales doesn’t just happen. It connects with the other 6 dynamics of a successful business.
  7. Delivery – Finally, is delivery where most businesses FAIL the most. I have seen many businesses turn off their show of love, care, goodness, humour, excitement, concerns, helping hands, once money gets into their hands. Yeah! It happens almost on a daily basis. And this makes most businesses fail in the long run. So, it is important to understand that delivery above expectations is what customers want to see. Not average or below average. It captures the processes from how a customer shows interest in your product or service, to how you can follow up with the customer, to how you can receive payments, and finally deliver your promise to the customer without hurting them. 

With all of the 7 Dynamics put together, you actually don’t need a special business plan to start a business.

Next is the RCPR Business Startup Model which is Research, Create, Package and Release.

Let me explain this too.

  1. Research – Every business owner wants to know what value to create since it is the value that every business serves. You must be able to identify the needs/wants of customers especially the ones with very huge demands. Then you also need to know the level of service that is available to these demands. That brings you face to face with those providing values in this niche.  You need to find out what your competitions are doing and how you can do it better. You need to find out the tools available to help you reach out to your target audience. You need to know what works and what doesn’t. You need to know at what point you could change your approach. You need to know where to find those who need your help (Remember you are providing help with your product or service and getting paid for it). You need to know what inspires your audience etc. But most importantly here is identifying your NICHE.
  2. Create – This clearly takes you by the hand through the process of creating or recreating a product or service that meets the needs/wants of your target audience. It affects your marketing messages in terms of content creation to reach out to your target audience, especially messages that resonate with them. It also helps you to create the necessary platforms where you can be able to reach your audience. It helps you to create the unique things that differentiate you from others after thorough research would have been completed. You will be able to create your vision on paper at this stage. Exactly what you’ve dreamt while in the Leadership stage of the 7 dynamics.
  3. Package – All of your efforts in the Research and Creation stage is brought in one piece here and ready for release to your target audience. It is at this point you can heave a sigh of relief and be ready to start getting the kinds of sales you want to have. But please hold on and see the last stage.
  4. Release/Launch – This is the final stage where customers and prospects can relate directly with you on their experiences of what you provide either as service or as products. There are various ways to release or launch your products. Gone are the days when you have to organize a big launch, spend so much money inviting the press to do a release. Today, you can adopt the simplest form of release. This is not to say, you can’t do all of those spendings. But note here that you’ve got a lean purse and would need to do something within that region of your purse. But in case you have to take control of a big company’s products and or services, and they are willing to spend for it. Why not. Go ahead and help them. It is at this point you start creating contents ranging from sales pitches to brand stories, to viral videos and the likes.

Your research will also help you to find the types of students and teachers you need to target. You will be able to also factor in a whole lot to make yours a unique service from various indices the research knowledge would have taught you.

Then, start creating your unique system and structures from the research findings you’ve made. This will include the various platforms you need to start recruiting teachers, registration of students for the program, and the lots.

This is basically for those thinking about personal coaches. If you are looking at exploring mass coaching where students have to be grouped in a centre for studies, you can as well explore this approach.

Then, at the packaging stage, this book reveals specific things you would have to consider because you need to drive interest of your target audience to buy into your value offers.

That cuts across various things you would have created while at the creation stage. It simply bringing your creation alive.

All you might need to do here is simple.

Create your website, and start talking about Automobiles. You can even narrow down to specific automobiles if you don’t want too much on your hands.

For example, take on Honda products and start talking about it. Find car dealers who deal on Honda products and tell them to pay you to sell their products on your platform. They will agree to do so if you are good at pitching. Don’t worry, you will find the best ways to pitch a client in this book.

Some payments could be as low as N50,000 monthly. But don’t worry. By the time you have about 10 of them across the country, or even within your location, you’ll be smiling home monthly with N500,000 untouched because they will pay for the adverts you will do for them. Cost of adverts is as low as probably N5,000 per week and they will be shocked at the results.

This means you need to horn your skills on Marketing with the various social media handles like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.

With these three super methods, there is no one that can challenge starting a business without money.

You Only Have To Start Believing – My Strategy For Easter & 2019

It’s the fourth month of the year and it’s Easter Season. It doesn’t matter what religion you practice. What matters is the fact that everyone is going on holidays soon.

Guess what?

This is 4 months out of a full year’s plan you already had. Isn’t it?

You need to make it count and get sold on ending the year in a strong way.

You know the thing about every beginning of a year is that we try to write down all our plans, and mentally we are damn serious to achieve it. Especially, if you had just listened to a super motivational speaker.

And then, a few days, weeks and maybe a month afterwards. The whole zeal dies flat like a flat bottle of beer, waiting patiently for someone who knows the effect of a good drink with bubbles to scream “Hey this drink is flat”. Lol.

Well, in order to help you have your strongest year-end ever, I am giving you this one tip as one of my sales strategies to help build momentum towards a successful end to 2019 and a prosperous start to 2020 when most businesses would have gone under for the obvious.

Are you ready to go all in these last 8 months? Here’s what to do as the first strategy you need for your business now.

 

GET SOLD ON YOURSELF FIRST:

Get sold on making and exceeding your own year end’s targets.

You must sell yourself on achieving your own goals, otherwise, why even set them?

In my book, How To Start A Business Without Money, I talk about how salespeople drive economies. This is the first month of the second quarter of the year. You have a hand in driving not only “the economy” but in maximizing your economy. How do you want to end 2019?

Now is the time to get sold on what hasn’t been done before. You have nothing to lose. Get your battle plan together. This is the perfect time to connect with all of your customers from the past years if you have been in business to personally wish them a happy Easter holiday.

Maybe their friend or family member is in the market for the exact thing you offer.

Use this time wisely, reconnect, and end the year at the top of their minds.

Repeat same when any religious celebration or festival comes again.

Remember, you must connect with the soul of your customers not just their body.

Talking only business is connecting with their bodies. But talking family, talking health, talking fun, talking success, talking pains, talking growth and development is part of connecting with their souls.

This is why big companies will spend a lot of resources at the end of every year just to say thank you for being friends and family with us.

Be aware and look for opportunities to sell. This is the season for socializing. When you meet people, tell them what you do and the problems you’re prepared to solve. Tell them your goal of ending the year strong. You never know, they may become your next big deal.

Some important things to keep in mind as we start building momentum to end the year strongly and carry us into a new year are…

The holidays are not an excuse to slack off. It’s the time to rev up.

There are plenty of opportunities out there. Find them.

Don’t forget about the second sale. It’s easier than the first and establishes trust and loyalty between you and your customer. Go for it.

While everyone else is distracted, remain focused.

Get obsessed about ending the year strong.

Right now think about the next few months, what you have going on and all the opportunities that exist.

Get serious about what you want to accomplish in this timeframe and then sell yourself on committing to making it happen.

Is Being Reasonable A Bad Thing?

Hmmm! I hear people argue a lot about this.

In fact, being REASONABLE is one word a whole lot of people will use to summarize a message like “STOP THAT F**K YOU ARE DOING”

The society suggests that you should settle for less, just be happy, enjoy life as it comes, take it easy, no need to rush, don’t be in a hurry, relax it will come to you, be contented, be satisfied, just do it later or when you are free.

How often do you hear this from friends, family, relatives?

All these people have advice on how you should just relax and enjoy life and not get your goals met.

Look, as soon as you hit serious economic challenges in any economy just like you are now experiencing it, what you begin to see are this fabricated nonsense of being reasonable becoming the undoing of literally millions of people.

And I don’t want YOU to be one of those people that think in this direction of being REASONABLE.

I want to make you unreasonable.

People have lost the importance of completing tasks and getting things done.

We used to do things with intensity, got it done, wrapped it up, and finished it.

There was a different work ethic. And that’s what we need to focus on: getting unreasonable with finishing cycles.

People are being convinced today to enjoy life rather than CREATE a life they can enjoy.

I want you to create a life you can enjoy.

Hey, we’ll rest later. We’ll take it easy later. We’ll go on vacations later.

Right now, we want to create a life.

We want to create Financial Solvency. Financial Abundance.

The average class has been deceived over the years into believing that once they enter a certain income level, they are entitled to a certain lifestyle. And that it’s important to live life rather than create the next level of life so they can truly have freedom.

One of the things I’m working on in my life right now is to complete actions started and complete them as fast as possible.

My Coach would say “SUCCESS LOVES SPEED”

The more I complete, the more I can complete.

The more I finish, the more I want to finish other things.

Be unreasonable in all that you do until it is done.

Quit approaching life as a task. Approach it as a finish.

Get in the habit of approaching everything in your life, every task, action, phone call, follow-up – with a sense of completion and urgency.

This discipline is critical for you to mount up sale after sale after sale.

Complete every action once started. Do it as fast as possible and then go do another task. And you will actually create time.

Same with closing transactions. Don’t put off closing what you can wrap up today.

Become unreasonable. Want more from yourself. And expect more from yourself.

Are You Sales-Driven or Market-Driven?

Good morning and hopefully you will have a great week for reading this piece today.

First, I would like to state that cutting price is never a long-term solution for the survival of any business.

It’s just a lazy way to do business.

It won’t make up for loss volumes, and secondly, it can actually unnecessarily depreciate the value of your product.

There can only be one lowest price provider in any market and you better be able to be a maniac on controlling cost which is a very precarious position particularly when inflation is in the air.

All the companies, especially luxury product companies, must now move from being market-driven to management/sales–driven.

Remember, the lowest price doesn’t close the sale. It doesn’t get the luxury buyer from their home or office into your store.

Also, the lowest price doesn’t ensure confidence in the consumer’s mind as they wonder about colour choices, sizes, or other considerations that have nothing to do with price.

I recently was trying to buy some suits for my wife and I decided to scout online and offline with various stores that I know.

All of them gave me their price list.

Some discounted, some did not, yet no one made the sale.

Why?

Because no one got in front of me to determine that I was on the wrong suit scout.

While most of the stores I approached depended mostly on the internet and of course, the few stores close to my office all had my address and phone number and could have brought me their collection or even call me.

None of them did.

Don’t use price to sell your products, increase the level of service.

While the Suits dealers stayed in their showrooms with too little to do and complaining about low sales both online and offline, I was buying my wife some pair of suits elsewhere instead.

In fact, this place I ended up buying from never for once approached me.

Price is actually a myth and a failed business strategy (unless you’re an internationally known suits factory and have control over the vendors and can return the inventory).

I got into details on this “Price Myth” in my best–selling book, “How To Start A Business Without Money”.

I promise it will change the way you think about price.

Remember; when price is a solution, your people will use it rather than doing what they need to in order to actually earn the business.

Be sales–driven not market–driven and you’ll be able to close more sales, which is the only real solution for the success of any business.

Be Careful of Fear Mongering

With the consistent media brouhaha on Nigeria’s economy and the talks about job loss and economic hardship in the coming months, or years.

I have one thing to say to you today.

Be Careful of Fear Mongering.

This is not to say these things won’t happen or will.

That’s not where I want you to focus on.

What I want you to focus on is simple…….

Let the predictions keep coming. Let the prophecies keeping buzzing.

But for you, how will all of these affect you?

So, if you are not sure of your potentials, then you may be slipped away with those Fear Mongering Predictions.

The fact is, what are those things that affect the economy of every country?

  1. Population – Where the rise in population doesn’t match the increase in infrastructures that support the population, people will suffer.
  2. Foods – Where the quantity of foods being produced doesn’t match the growth or increase in the population of a country, prices of the foods will increase and those without the foods or money will suffer.
  3. Employment – A country will continue to suffer in the hands of abject poverty for its citizens when there are no paying jobs to engage the rising population of job hunters.
  4. Money – Give me money, and I’ll forget I ever had a problem. Money solves so many things. While all of the above have been mentioned as important factors, enough money solves all of these problems. So with money evenly distributed in the hands of the citizens, there will be a great economy.

While there are many more, let’s keep ourselves within the above mentioned.

Every FEAR MONEGERER knows exactly how someone can solve these problems.

The problem now lies in our willingness to prepare ourselves so as to reduce the shock and predictions of the FEAR MONGERERS on us.

What then should you do to avoid the Fears or effect of the economic downturn?

Go and develop the skills required to be successful in business.

Don’t Just Make Money, Make A Difference

One of the first pieces of advice I got from the first Entrepreneurial Academy I enrolled for in 2013.

This was just shortly after I realized that the only way I could move ahead in life was to develop my skills beyond what I already knew from the banking industry I had just quit.

Of course, I was full of excitement in my final days at the bank because this time, it wasn’t the bank asking me to go, but my personal decision to leave and start my own entrepreneurial dreams.

I thought I had saved enough monies to get me out and start really big. I also thought the street was going to be as easy as I enjoyed my stay in the bank (This was probably because I never had the opportunity to sit down with Tony Elumelu – The then MD/CEO of STB Plc who was my first employer to tell me how difficult it was for him to start what I came to enjoy).

Truth be told?

The start for me remains one of the most unforgettable memories.

Sad experiences you wouldn’t want to have. This was all my fault because I never researched the streets before taking that decision to resign.

Good and fine, I’ve always been in love with sales. But I didn’t know so much needed to be done.

But what the greatest mistake was for me then was the fact that I had focused on coming to make money only.

I wouldn’t want to take us through my experience for now. But the simple message in case you are desperate to know is to let you know that it wasn’t funny. With all the knowledge and money I came out with from the bank, I was far below what the street needed. And guess what? I went BROKE.

So, when I started all over again without money and things began to look really bright for me, one of the first Entrepreneurial Academy (The Emyth) I enrolled for to improve my skills decided to assign a coach to me.

She held several closed sessions with me.

And this is one of the first eye-opening pieces of advice I got from her about my interest to make money.

She said; “Tim, Don’t Just Make Money, Make A Difference”.

That’s really deep.

To further make this clear to me, she said every successful man or woman makes a difference. And it is that difference which identifies them as unique.

The uniqueness is in the value they provide.

What follows value is the Success, The Monies, The Fame, The Greatness… Just name it.

This is exactly what makes people sell far higher than their contemporaries.

So, I decided to apply this to every one of my businesses.

It was the concept I used in my Real Estate business that gave me the kind of unimaginable results I got in the first few months of entrants into the industry.

This is the biggest secrets you must know if you are going into a business.

It is the biggest secret you must take a look at again if you are in business today.

“Don’t Just Make Money, Make A Difference”.

Let me say this;

Every day that you wake up, you’re by every sense going to come in contact with people.

It could be your family members, your business prospects, your friends, or even strangers.

In the course of your contact with these people, it is either you’re impacting them positively or negatively.

That’s the difference.

What difference is it? Is it positive or negative?

If it’s positive which I believe you want your contacts to experience from you. Is it unique?

It’s really good that we want to be successful and of course, every success comes with riches and material things.

But what happens to the contacts?

Are they excited about the uniqueness of the values they get from you?

If they are, then you’re making a difference.

Your customers, Your friends, Your Family members, Your Fans, Your prospects, Just name it.

They all want to experience a difference from you and they will be willing to give their monies to you just for the experience of that difference.

Let your customers feel it in the way they relate with you or consume your products.

Strive to show uniqueness and create impacts that live many times more even after you’re gone.

It’s about your brand.
